I hope you can recall back in 2016 that Facebook announced to their users through the change of Terms and Conditions about linking of WhatsApp and Facebook platform together? The EC (European Commission) claimed in 2014 that such feature would not be available in the future but Facebook lied. This misleading action falls to EU Merger Regulation that companies are required to provide correct information. Meanwhile, the possibility of matching accounts was already available and Facebook staff was aware of this possibility but they decides to merge it in a wrong way and also, the £110M fine is calculated 1% of the collected turnover of both companies.
